Work continues at the hatchery, The inside tanks have been cleaned every 2nd day and the fish are swimming and feeding well. Work has continued on tidying up the electrics and control systems for feeders, air pumps etc. Today 12th August we had the creek cleaned out, a silt trap included in the stream, bypass stream deepened and cleaned out and numerous other jobs completed by Oliver Bros and their 12 tonne digger.

The incubation of salmon eggs in 3 Springs stream on the Opihi river this year was very successful. The Opihi group consisting of Roger Low, Lynsday Galbraith, and Richard and Brian Davidson have placed the incubator adjacent to the spring and lovingly looked after the eggs during the winter. Out of 50,000 eggs they placed in the incubator, greater than 45,000 have successfully hatched and are zipped up and swimming freely. Well done to this dedicated team.
