Gabion baskets and Concrete portals.

Gabion baskets were positioned in the hatchery site by-pass stream in the early Spring to halt the erosion of the sides of the stream and to provide a firm base to fit planned concrete portals which will divide the stream in to pens, able to hold adult fish. Funding for the project was successfully granted by Timaru District Council and volunteers excavated and filled baskets to complete the work.
